Just a few weeks ago, I went to a baby shower for my very best friend.
It was her second baby.
I was planning to sew a soft little owl, like I did for her first born.
Something suitable for a boy or girl. After all, everyone loves an owl.
But at the last minute I decided to make this colourful (but gender-neutral) fish instead.
Soft fluffy polar fleece with spotty trim, silky ribbon fins and a button eye.
She ended up having another boy.
She named him Finn.
My gift was really quite appropriate then. Wasn't it?
So clever.
